Parks & Open Space

What kind of parks and open space are in the plan?
The plan includes a community park of approximately 4 acres in addition to several neighborhood parks, totaling 13 acres of park acreage. About 19 percent of the land area is dedicated to parks and open space. The Lowry Community Master Association will be responsible for maintaining the open spaces in the site after they are constructed.

Will the berms on Monaco Parkway and First Avenue remain?
The redevelopment plan calls for preserving the berm on Monaco Parkway except to accommodate Lowry Boulevard and adjacent mixed-use areas. After much neighborhood input, a decision was made to extend several streets through to First Avenue. This includes Magnolia Street, Niagara Street, Newport Street, Oneida Street, and Poplar Street. This will eliminate neighborhood barriers and disperse traffic around the Buckley Annex site.
